iKON 2 / Brain V2 FBL - Latest update.
« on: April 22, 2018, 01:29:27 PM »
Hi all

Have any iKON / Brain FBL users had any issues with the latest firmware (3.2) update?

My Brain V2 HD updated (automatically, as it does when you connect it to the software) two days ago when I went to make some slight changes to the governor settings.  Now my swash servos bump intermittently and my throttle servo twitches.  And, I have also lost the full integration with my Jeti TX.

I have since tested another one of my Brain V2 HD units that hasn't been updated, and that one continues to work flawlessly with full Jeti integration.  This is why I suspect the new update has screwed things up.
Has anyone else experienced similar issues with the latest update?

I have sent an email to iKON support for answers.

In the meantime, does anyone know how to reload an older version of the firmware?

Cheers
Piers

I had issues, I plugged into the computer to do some adjustment and was to the firmware was out of date and an upgrade was needed etc.
The configurator updated OK then the system started on the iKon unit, download,Writing & Verification had just finish when the  USB drivers reloaded, this locked everything up completely the iKon was only accessible through the I/O port after that, not from the USB or the Transmitter was not talking to it.

After fiddling around with BT and resetting to factory default no joy, so I contacted HeliDirect iKon support, after enabling the Bootloader and re loading the firmware I got it working, I still don't trust it though when connected to the configuator it looses contact every now and then for a few seconds, I'm not going to use that unit again until I run it through it's paces in a clunker.

I have updated another iKon unit with no issues since, which I'll be using in my Agile.

Thanks Admiral,

I have heard of people going through the reload procedure in the bootloader.  How does one get into the bootloader to start with?

Cheers

short 2 center pins in the SYS/IO port and power it to let it enter Bootloader mode. Then please plug it into the PC and start to re-flash the firmware again. ( iKon Supports instructions)

For the Jeti integration support did you update the file on the Tx as well? You will need to download and update it manually after updating the unit.

Thanks Dennis, didn't know about that.  I will update the Jeti file as well and see how it goes.  Could one assume if I don't update the other Brain V2 HD to the current version, the new Jeti integration file will not work with the older firmware version on the Brain.  Only one way to find out, I suppose.

Just tried it Dennis, it shows up under "Device Explorer" and when you select "Brain" (has a tick to the right as well) it thinks about it for a couple of seconds then quickly flashes up "Device Disconnected", the tick changes to a cross momentarily then goes back to a tick.  The Jeti does not go into the FBL configuration area.

I'm running the latest firmware on the Jeti DS16, LUA version.

But did you install the new config file for Jeti from the 3.2.000 version of the Brain? I think you will find it on the MSH site.

Thanks Dennis,

Yep did all that, after a full day of investigation, it is the Jeti model file that is corrupt.  So co-incidental with the updating of the FBL.  I created another model in the TX and it picks up the integration with the FBL unit.

I didn't realise that Jeti firmware 4.27 is out on the street, I was running 4.23 and I usually get my firmware updates from espritmodel.com, they're still running 4.23 as the latest version.

Latest Jeti firmware here: http://www.jetimodel.com/en/Downloads/DC-DS-Firmware-Update-Version-4-27/

Now I have to setup the model again as the saved file is also corrupted.  Ho hum

Cheers
Piers

PS.  I'll fire model up in the coming days to see if the swash servos still bump, but I'm hoping it is all related.

Damn, thats unlucky. I haven't updated to 4.27 yet or to the new Brain firmware, probably will be a little while as I don't want to risk having to re-do anything at the moment with a lot of heli things on and not much down time in-between.
