Hi Guys,

Just to let those of you know who have multi rotor creations in your fleet that we now have a new home on Archeli!

Thanks to Fighting Falcon setting this up for us.

I for one have a KKMulticopter V5 Board that I am planning on creating something with (probably quad).

If you have something to contribute your experience, photos, build and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Ben

Cool - thanks for getting this board started Benny..

Benny and I both got a bargain KKmulticopter (http://www.kkmulticopter.com/) board from ebay. We also got the usb programmer for the atmega168 chip so you can load your own firmware on it - choice of tri, quad (+ or x layout), or hex

The kk v5.5 black board is gyro only, no stabilization but looks like a great way to start.

I recently signed up at openpilot.org and they have a wizbang setup being developed there with gyros, accelerometers (for stabilization), spectrum sat compatibility, and gps compat. I chatted with the guy who runs the board and he sent me a free development board + jtag programmer for free (normally $99) - how cool is that... so more experimenting to come there too...

A pic of the KK V5.5 Board (only roughtly 5cm square)

Thanks for coming on board John.  I know your expertise in your tri-copter build and flying will not go astray here.

Looking forward to some good ideas coming out of this.

Ben

Here's a quad build vid so anyone keen can get some ideas - turn on the english subtitles though!

Looks OK and lower profile....

looks like a good motor on a 9x4.7 prop..

would be good for a quad if you can get 2 counter rotating props of the right size for it..

Feedback says 9x4.7sf working good but I think most use normal props for quads as the higer rpms (1300kv) seem to suit quads better but lower rpms 700-1000kv suit tricopters using slow-flyer props

There are a few micro quads around but not sure of any projects..

HK have these motors which people use in them --> http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=5358

There is a brilliant micror tri (Shrediquette DLXm) here that i'd love to build --> http://shrediquette.blogspot.com/p/shrediquette-dlxm.html

@cjp - I think the blueboard is essentially the same, maybe just a different layout, not 100% sure thou..

Also - Hobbyking is in the process of making their own KK board wich may sell for about $20-30US.. but not sure when it will be released.. soon I think..

I built an 'X" quad with the Warthox FPV board, using the WiiM+ and the Adruino mini. Just gyro's onboard atm but wil be adding the Nunchuck for stabalisation.

Thanks for the links trexdvd :)
That's a cool quad u made rhino, I like that u can flip it don't think my 330x would do that..
Can u adjust the gain via tx or u have to use usb?

USB to adjust the gain. I actually have to move the motors in a little as my gain is getting quite low now, as it still gets the shakes up in the wind.

Rhino - great stuff..

Can you give us a list of motors, props and esc's you are using..
Any other details gret too.. batt, runtime, etc..

PS: I gather the motors are in from the sticks to save the props in case of a crash ?

Hey Rhino, nice work on the quad and even better work getting the better half to video it for you!  Sounds like she was enjoying it too!

Will be great to get some ideas off of you and share some info.

haha yeah she gets dragged along to film alot of the silly things us lad's do.

The sticks past the end of the motors make it much easier to see once painted, and prob do help in a crash as I haven't bent a motor shaft yet. I just built the frame out of balsa sticks while I tested the electronics and coding  of the Adruino.

Motors are Turnigy 1200Kv, Mystery 20A esc's and 8x4 GWS props. Running it on 3s 1300 and getting 6 minutes of Aero's
